The Face » Mole & Skin Lesions

Mole and skin lesions are very common, they are often non-cancerous and will cause no harm or medical issues. However if a mole or skin lesion changes in size or colour then they should be examined and investigated further.

If your moles or skin lesions show any potential of becoming malignant, they will need to be removed and analysed under a microscope. Some clients may not like the appearance of a mole, and may want it removed for cosmetic reasons. Mr Aakshay Gulati provides a confidential and professional service to remove the unwanted mole, offering advice and after care to fully prepare you for the procedure.

The Procedure

The procedure used will be based on your mole or skin lesion. These factors include size, where it is and what type of mole or skin lesion it is.

The removal can often be performed under local anaesthetic which will help prevent any pain from the removal. The area of the mole/ skin lesion is usually numbed with local anaesthetic and removed using a scalpel, where the lump is then analysed in a lab to check the exact nature of the lesion.

The procedure is painless and quick and the skin is usually joined using stitches which can be removed after 5 to 10 days, depending on the lesion. Mr Aakshay Gulati will provide a thorough explanation of the procedure during your consultation.

After care

After the procedure the targeted area may be slightly red and sore. Make sure you take extra care to not knock or bump the affected area.

The local anaesthetic may leave you feeling a little unsteady, you may require someone to drive you home or assist you for 24 hours after the procedure.
